“No modern playwright has been bolder or more brilliant.”
The New Yorker

Marked by cool understatement, impeccable timing, and scalpel-like insight, the works of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet darkly explore the stories of characters corrupted or forsaken by the American dream. Among a handful of playwrights who have successfully alternated between stage and screen, Mamet is the author of the plays Oleanna; Glengarry Glen Ross, both of which he adapted for film; Speed the Plow and Sexual Perversity in Chicago, among others. His films include, as screenwriter, The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Verdict, The Untouchables, The Edge, and Wag the Dog, and as writer/director, House of Games, Homicide, Things Change, and The Spanish Prisoner. This American icon comes to UCLA Live for the first time in a discussion that will range from his new projects, to the contemporary stage and the land of Hollywood.
