Loud & RichLoudon Wainwright III and Richard Thompson
Tears and laughter? Equally likely when Richard Thompson and Loudon Wainwright III join forces. Though Thompson’s an English folk-rock progenitor (from his Fairport Convention days on) and Wainwright comes from the American singer-songwriter realm, their songs dissecting the human psyche share an affecting poignancy and incisive wit. Thompson, who routinely is found near the top of rock guitarist rankings, was a standout at the McCabe’s 50th anniversary celebration at UCLA Live in 2008.
